Welcome to the website of the Western Wyoming Rifleman's Association (WWRA). Incorporated under the Wyoming Nonprofit Corporations Act, the purpose of the Association is to provide it's members with the common objective of fellowship and recreation and to promote participation in the shooting sports. We are dedicated to the promotion of good sportsmanship and the wise use of natural and renewable wildlife resources.
The Association seeks to disseminate useful and timely information regarding marksmanship and firearms safety and other information to our members. Additionally, the Association will establish training classes, develop and conduct small arms competitions in cooperation with the National Rifle Association and other organizations of good repute, provide speakers, and general assistance to those desiring to learn and participate in the legitimate shooting sports with special emphasis on youth involvement. The Association actively supports and encourages participation in the Wyoming State Shooting Association and the National Rifle Association.
In May of 2009 WWRA entered into a lease agreement with Lincoln County, WY on 140 acres south of Star Valley for the purpose of establishing a permanent shooting range. Ground was broken to develop that range in June of 2010 and extensive basic construction was completed in July 2010. Thereby creating, the Coal Canyon Shooting Sports Facility which has a 300 yard plus rifle range, two 40 yard pistol bays, a 50 yard IPSC/IDPA bay, a 60 yard rimfire rifle bay and a potential law enforcement bay. A combined trap and skeet range pad has been leveled for development. Installation of concrete shooting benches and initial firing line cover for the rifle range are in progress and anticipated to be completed in fall of 2010. Continuing development for all other aspects will proceed as funding and resources are available. The basic range is now available for use by properly trained/qualified and insured club members 7 days a week (See Range Facility Usage Procedures - Training section). In the near future when adequate resources are available, the range will be opened to the public on Saturdays and Sundays for a nominal fee when Range Safety Officers can be present and the facility is not closed for the winter. Public entities such as Boy Scouts, law enforcement and U.S. Military will be able to use the facility by arrangement without charge.
We hope you will consider joining the Western Wyoming Rifleman's Association
and help us reach our goals.
